I realized to my dismay months ago that Six Sentence Sunday was no more, but Weekend Writing Warriors quickly sprung up to take its place. This will be my first weekend taking part.
“It’s simple and fun. Sign the linky, then on Sunday, post 8 sentences from a current writing project, published or unpublished. Visit other participants and offer opinions, critiques, support. Writers hanging out with writers, a good time with a great group of people.”
This week’s excerpt comes from Cynthia Madden, whose father is an officer in Jasper City’s military force:
“The sound of breaking glass woke her up. The sight of the wall opposite her bursting into flames kept her awake.
Behind her was a large window. Someone threw an object inside from there. She turned to see a group of uniformed men with big guns, then came to her senses and ducked back behind the couch.
Members of the City Guard! What are they doing here? Didn’t they know who her father was?”
The link to the Weekend Writing Warriors can be found in the sidebar to your left, along with some other nice places.
What a dreadful way of waking up!
Couldn't they just knock at the door?
I wonder what they want from her.
Welcome to Week-end Writing Warriors! 🙂
I can be sure it's nothing good.
Thank you for visiting!
Wow, that's some way to wake up! And it seems to be getting worse…excellent excerpt, threw us right into the action.
Interesting – I like the hint that there's more to her we don't know about yet. And that the Guard is obviously ignoring that fact.
It took me some time to find a good one! Thank you for visiting!
Thank you!
