The next installment in Weekend Writing Warriors focuses on Dexter. As the newly appointed right hand man to the Mayor, Dexter discovers that his old flame Cynthia is in danger.
Dex’s stomach churned and his blood quickly turned toward the boiling point. His best efforts to keep his hands from shaking in front of The Mayor failed.
“I know that you two were once together,” he told Dex. “I wondered if the circumstances of that relationship’s end would affect your ability to handle this case. I see that I have my answer.”
“I can’t promise you that I will stay objective in this,” Dex said.
“Quite honestly, I don’t care if you’re objective or not. I only expect you to do your job. If having an emotion helps you in a case, so be it.”
