WWW #3: Citizen 71

Weekend Writing Warriors is back!  Last week I lapsed in participating, but I plan to fix that now.

It’s simple and fun. Sign the linky, then on Sunday, post 8 sentences from a current writing project, published or unpublished. Visit other participants and offer opinions, critiques, support. Writers hanging out with writers, a good time with a great group of people.

I am continuing with snippets from Jasper City.  Now that I have a copy back from a beta I expect many of the snippets you see will be changed by the final draft, so here they are in a raw, organic form.

We’re returning to Cynthia, in one piece but has found herself in a sketchy crowd.  She’s not out of danger yet.

“If anything happens to us,” he said, ignoring Cynthia’s wide eyed stare, “Tell them that I’ve kidnapped you.  You should not have to suffer with us.”

He didn’t wait for her to answer before turning back to his children.

“I don’t see anything, Dad,” the older brother said.

Citizen 71 held the boy’s mouth shut and pulled him away from the window in the same motion.  “Quiet!” he hissed, and then turned to Cynthia only to find that she was missing.

He pulled the hood back over his head.  Now was not the time to find her.
