It’s that time of week, and here’s another Weekend Writing Warriors post:
It’s simple and fun. Sign the linky list with your name, blog url and email address on Mondays, 8:00 AM EST. Each week, the list remains open until Saturday, 11:59 PM. Then on Sunday, post 8 sentences from a current writing project, published or unpublished. Visit other participants and offer opinions, critiques, support. Writers hanging out with writers, a good time with a great group of people.
This entry focuses o two supporting characters. Thomas Quinn is a member of the City Guard who finds himself in direct service to the new Captain, Dex. Mary is his extramarital lover who helped him acquire information about the injured Richard Manning.
Some snipping was required to keep to the sentence requirement.
“[Richard] had an argument with the Mayor before the bombing. It was heated enough that Mayor Jasper sent him home.”
“It’s fascinating, but you were right,” Thomas told her. “That information’s not of any use to me.”
“Tom, obviously he’s not comatose like the Mayor claims. And swapping shifts to get on that isolated wing… it’d be easier to buy booze from Inmate 71 himself. Mayor Jasper doesn’t want people talking to him. I think he’s still trying to figure out what to do with the man.”
So it doesn’t look good for Manning.
This raises questions…makes me wonder what he’s up to.
Raises a certain degree of interest in me, but this snippet is a bit hard to evaluate in isolation.
Thank you. And you’re right here – admittedly I’m running out of content to post. It just means that I’ll need to write some more by next Sunday!
Hmm…the mayor is up to no good. And I wonder what secrets the purportedly comatose man might reveal… Good 8–your writing is very fluid. 🙂
Quite the mystery going on!
