Weekend Writing Warriors: Dex and Lilith 5

Another last minute Weekend Writing Warriors post.  The procrastinator’s special!  This also explains my slow and deliberate progress in novel editing in general.

It’s simple and fun. Sign the linky list with your name, blog url and email address on Mondays, 8:00 AM EST. Each week, the list remains open until Saturday, 11:59 PM. Then on Sunday, post 8 sentences from a current writing project, published or unpublished. Visit other participants and offer opinions, critiques, support. Writers hanging out with writers, a good time with a great group of people.

In previous entries, Dex confided in his wife that he doesn’t feel safe in his current position, and regrets accepting the promotion given to him.  There’s a genuine fear of being killed or made to disappear.

“Stepping down is not an option, either?”

Dex shook his head.  “He’d likely take it as an insult, or a warning that I know more than I’ve let on.”

“That would mean the only way to go is up.  Do you know what I’m saying?”

“It’s impossible.”

“Not according to our laws.  You’re next in line.”

A couple more weeks should finish up this scene nicely.
