The Finish Line

I’m a week and a half away from the insanely short deadline I set for myself, and I’ve learned a few things about the process.

One, giving myself a month to finish and promote a book may be doable, but hardly ideal.  Give yourself more time.

Two, and I’ve complained about this before, but Microsoft Word is unfriendly and cumbersome in applications like this.  The newest version tripped me up throughout formatting Jasper, mainly in adding headers and footers.  One wrong step, and half of the book’s page numbers get deleted.  If you’re not careful you get nonsensical page numbers in odd places.

Rarely will I yearn for old technology, but there are times when I miss simpler, more streamlined versions of programs when all I want to do is write a story.

But the deed is done, all corrections are made.  I’m confident that Jasper is ready in story and format, and I will make my June 1st deadline.

Preordering for the Kindle edition of Jasper is available now:

A print version will be available starting June 1.

  1. I’m actually quite impressed that you chose to finish and promote the book in a month. Not that I have any experience. But still, it seems like a lot of work in a short time.

    1. It really is, and I didn’t realize that until I tackled this. I chose Jun 1 for sentimental reasons (started the book on the same day) but I don’t think I’ll be doing that again.
